Born in Paraguay, MAIA initially pursued a career in aviation, working as a flight attendant for Emirates Airlines, where she enhanced her multilingual skills in English, Spanish, French, & German. She later transitioned to the performing arts, graduating from the Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting in Los Angeles, the Lucid Body Technique & taking classes at the Juilliard Extension Program. Maia's professional debut came with the 2018 feature film Original Sin, which she co-wrote, produced, and starred in as Eva; the film premiered at the Austin Film Festival, screened at over 20 international festivals, and was acquired by HBO Max for streaming distribution. Her other acting credits include lead & supporting roles in short films such as The Grey in Between (2022), Hejleh (2019), and Paloma (2017), as well as a recurring role as Luciana in five episodes of the TV series Swing (2017) and guest starring in the first Paraguayan sitcom 'Sólo por unos días' in 2025. She has earned two awards and six nominations across her projects.
