
MAIA PECCI is a Paraguayan-born writer, director, actor, producer, and dancer based in NYC. Fluent in Spanish, English, French, and German, she brings a global perspective to her storytelling.
Her debut feature as a writer and lead, "Original Sin" (2018), the first US-Paraguay co-production, premiered at Austin Film Festival as a Comedy Vanguard Nominee and won Best Foreign Film at Downtown Los Angeles Film Festival and Best Comedy at multiple international festivals. The film was acquired by HBO through Shoreline Entertainment, and received a theatrical release in Paraguay.
Her television series "The Rise of Elisa Lynch" was selected for The Gotham TV Lab and Market, SANFIC Industria, Guadalajara International Film Festival's Episodio 0, and NALIP Latino Media Market. In 2026, she'll direct "¡Perra!" (Bitch!), a short film inspired by the same prominent Paraguayan historical figure.
As a director, Maia has helmed music videos for artist Erwin, including "Calling the Shots" and "Rise Again," plus the animated short "Siempre Salvaje" (Always Wild) premiering later this year and the short film "The Grey in Between," an official selection at the New York Shorts in 2022.
Her theatrical work includes writing and acting in "Brace for Impact!" (workshopped at The TANK in 2023) and "We Live, We Die, and Death Not Ends" also inspired by Elisa Lynch (2025 reading).
Trained at Stella Adler Academy, The Lucid Body and Juilliard Extension Program, Maia is a certified family constellation facilitator, incorporating this therapeutic practice into her directing.
In 2022, she co-founded Always Wild Content with her partner Austin Iredale, creating original and branded content while mentoring young artists. She has taught script and character development at Women In Film Paraguay and TIA Acting School Paraguay, demonstrating her commitment to empowering emerging filmmakers.
